WEB GEMS- Top 2nd: Johnny Estrada blocked the plate, saving a run!
Matt Stairs smacked 2 homeruns as the Columbus Crowd were badly beaten by the
Chicago Rastafarians, 14 to 3.
Stairs was a source of great heartache for the Columbus faithful all day. He
just kept pounding out hits! He doubled knocking in a run in the 3rd inning,
depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand slam home run in the 5th
inning and delivered a solo blast (his 11th of the season) in the 7th inning.
Chicago had 10 hits for the afternoon.
Rich Harden(8-4) got the win allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Jose Mesa recorded
the save, his 2nd. Tom Glavine(11-8) took the loss. He was not very
effective, surrendering 5 runs in 2 innings.
'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park today,' Stairs said. 'I'm
glad I decided to play!'
